Yep, we're in South Florida and we have chicks that will be three weeks old on Wed. We have not finished the coop yet, and they still stay inside at night, but I have been taking them out to a shady, plant filled area with six foot fence that is blocked off and safe. I have been taking them out early and bringing them in by around 11 am, and keeping them in until around 4:30 in the afternoon. They are getting big and are pretty ticked off having to stay inside when they love running around, but they DO pant in the heat and they are still so young.
I have been envisioning a fan with ice, so this gallon jug with fan is a great idea and we will be using it! I am also rethinking the coop and think we will have a day run on the shady part of the house. It is REALLY hot here this week.
Thanks for the tips.
