EXCESSIVE HEAT COMING TO LAS VEGAS NV 112 + HOW MUCH HEAT DO CHICKENS TOLLARATE I DO HAVE A SHADY AREA FOR THEM BUT WHAT DO I DO TO KEEP THEM COOL MISTER FAN ?

I'm sorry your so worried about your chickens. How much heat they can handle depends on the breed. What breeds do you have? It never gets to hot for my chickens here but on hot days they get upset, and I feel bad for them so this is what I do: Put ice in their water, Put a fan outside (they love it), Not hold them (that would make them hotter), Once I threw them frozen berries, and you could look on BYC for more things to do!
Here is a link of things to do: http://poultryone.com/articles/heat-html

I live in Florida. My chickens have plenty of shade and they like to dig in the dirt. I also have a mister on my sprinkler when it is SOOO hot in the middle of the day in summer. I fan in the coop is nice too. Make sure they always have water.

Hope this helps! =]

! Pleased you joined our community! 1 dry heat of 112 might actually be better than a humid 100. Misters are great - sometimes takes awhile for them to get used to them. I provide, fresh cool water, shade, and put them in a breezy place if you can. Good luck to you!

Make sure to have plenty of shade, real or artificial - misters, fans (protected so chickens aren't injured), frozen water in gallon jugs and placed around area so chickens can cozy up if they want too. Some people have air conditioned coops - even if set only 10 degrees cooler than outside, it will be a relief for the chickens.

One of the things I do for mine is put a container with a small amount of cold water in it, and they like to wade through it when it is very hot.
