heated waterer leaks

I have one of those heated waterers that you fill from the bottom than flip over. problem is it tend to come apart sometimes during the flip, and wetting the coop any idaes on how to stop this mess I was thinking of chalking the whole thing together just not sure if the girls will try to eat the chalking

Return it while you still can!! I had one that leaked all over the coop and it would freeze at the top on the container. I returned it, thinking it was defective. Well the 2nd one did it too. Came to the conclusion that where the outlet plugs in is what is making the waterer unlevel. Right now I'm using a 3 gal. bucket with an electric bird bath heater in it. Doesn't make as much of a mess and the chickens aren't complaining.
