i know these birds run wild here, but i only have five so are they going to survive the winter in a coop? i plan to ue a heat lamp, but what do they really need to survive and be healthy? these are bobwhites.

We are in Ohio and have overwintered bobs in our barn without heat lamps. We make sure there are no drafts and everything is dry for them. Keeping the waterers free of ice is an issue but we've had success keeping them year-round. Kristi

your bobbers will be fine without heat. Just provide them witha draft free shelter to run into when they are really cold.

My ideal set up is a rabbit hutch with an indoor part. I tarp the entire pen and they stay content in there. They will huddle together for warmth too

and i agree, the water staying liqudiy is the main objective to keep in mind

just seems something so small would need extra heat, ya know? i guess that is what bothers me... i hate knowing one of my critters is cold or hungry.
