hello does anyone have any idea's on how to keep young quails warm.
i don't have any electric outside where there house is.
i was wondering what other people do to keep young quails warm.

I use snugglesafes that u heat up in microwave that stay hot for about 10 hours I only use if it is below freezing though they are good in the cold ! X :)

hello thank you for your answers.

robdog they will be 7 weeks old when they come off heat, as the weather is still cold i am worried about them going outside.
at the moment the eggs are in the incubator so i am worrying in advance. i like to plan ahead.

Dani that is a great idea, i read on another forum that they use a heat blanket but they are in the USA and i cant find one in the UK.

Just make sure that the new chicks have the same temp as whats in the incubator for the first week. After the first week, you should decrease the heat gradually week after week. Maybe keep them in your garage.

I picked mine up at 7 weeks old in November the breeder already had them outside so I put them straight out too they have been out all winter and so far no problems I just make sure they don't get wet which was difficult as their cover doesn't go to the floor of the run so I made a frame which I covered with a clear tarp to keep them dry but allow light through ! X
U can get snugglesafes on amazon for cheaper than in the shops :)

thank you everyone for all your advice. i am going to buy a snugglesafes just to add some warmth.

I have used 'hot water bottles" like in this video before, when I did some off-grid brooding. It actually worked quite fine.
