Hi, looking for any guidance with my sick chicken. She a 4 yr old buff. I’ve given her a warm bath, separated her from the others, and sprayed her vent with an anti-fungal and antibacterial. Shes not eating or drinking. I’m getting her to take some fluids with electrolytes from an eyedropper. She was totally fine in the yard foregoing with all the other chickens. Then the next day she was breathing heavy and putting herself in the corner of the coop or standing resting her head on a wine barrel.

Has she laid eggs recently? Her tail is down, and being lethargic and separating herself can be common in hens with a reproductive disorder or infection. Does she have any enlargement of her lower belly under her vent? The green dropping may be from not eating. She may be too frail to soak any more so I would try to keep her clean as possible without bathing. You could offer up to her beak a small bowl of chicken feed and water with some scrambled egg bits. A vitamin and electrolyte tonic such as poultry NutriDrench or poultry cell 1 to 2 ml given orally may help. You could try tube feeding if you want to learn.

I don’t think she’s laid since pre winter. Most of her flock-mates are just starting to lay again.

It’s hard to tell if she has an enlargement since he’s a v large chicken compared to all the others.
