We got a heavy rain last week that filled my coop with an inch of water. I have one pullet that loves to play in water and she was having a ball. the others however were not coming down off the roosts. I had caulked the flooring all the way around so it held water, I had to remove the door sill to let the water out.
I may have to consider drains. First though I decided to try Bahama shutters to keep a lot of the water out ( I hope ). Built and installed them on the East and West sides first. If it works I will make some for the front (North side).

I'm guessing that all the rain came in through the window/door screens? I'm hoping that was the case, & NOT that you were actually flooded!
My coop is on the ground, dirt floor & was sooo nasty by the time the rains finished...gotta get some sand as a floor.
Sorry you had to go through so much to get the water out; a drain sounds like a good idea. Let us know how those shutters work.
