I candled the eggs in the incubator and the seven from Maddie and Jane have the strongest vein systems I have ever seen in an egg! They're very thick and distinct in every one of them. So, today is Day 16. All the Brahmas seem fine, too, but these eggs from The Twins, as Tom calls them, are just so strong-looking at this point. My humidity seems right on point. The digital reads 3% low and the analog hygro reads 3% high so that makes it easy to know the reading is right between those two. If this hatch is bad, I will be clueless as to why.

I was thinking that the girls were over a year old. I looked it up and they are past two years old! Time really flies.

I was shocked! I cannot believe it. And they will be moms for the first time, though they won't know it. I am going to upload a video about sexing barred varieties today and when their chicks hatch, I hope to sex them in a video, or attempt to do that , probably Monday.

I've been busy here. Too busy. I think I finally hit the wall, and will start to downsize a bit like my husband keeps telling me to do.

I hatch some bantam batches, had a killer bantam momma taking out others chicks, I hatched some other eggs under broodies, got some pheasant eggs I hatched under my bantams, let a muscovy hen hatch, got a batch of 15 chicks, 4 goslings, 15 turkey poults, got 3 kittens, and got another pup in March.

That sounds like I'm a crazy lunatic. It wasn't all additions. I lost a couple of older goats, my older dog last fall, and a few other birds like all 3 of my Tom turkeys for various reasons, as well as a couple of hen. My kitty also went missing. So pound for pound I probably have about the same amount of critters.

Things are finally calming down as I move young ones out to their pens, and am hopefully done brooding more. My vet tech may be giving me a few more pheasant chicks if she gets more. Those at least we release.

Well, I did and two rude people posted negative stuff and for some reason, I can't delete my posts anymore. This is why BYC sucks these days. I locked the thread and asked that it be deleted. It's a sad day when the YouTube crowd is less snarky than BYC members. WTH? Thanks for deleting that, Lisa. I guess BYC is not my good place anymore. It was one reason I stayed on my own longrunning threads and now, it's even worse.
