Can't you just keep one! :love

I'm at a point now where I have to think about how long they'll live and if I can take care of them, Mary. I am so tired, I really would rather not even go to the barn these days.
Yesterday, Tiny was acting strangely, but she's 10 yrs old and anything can happen at any time now. Today, Thea had tail down, her color was slightly off and she wasn't acting like herself. So, who the heck knows what is wrong with her? I had taken some eggs mixed with yogurt and shaved beef liver with a squeeze of Vit E and some crushed aspirin mixed in for Hector (his leg recovery) so I separated him with Thea and let them both have it. Then, I put in Jill, or I thought it was Jill. Turns out I grabbed Maddie instead. She looks so much like Jill and at times, acts like her, LOL. So, she wasn't happy and Jill was confused at me taking Hector and her sister out and leaving her in there with the others. Fixed that mixup.

Oh, dear Lord, let's help me not be a wise-ass. That other woman, who has been waiting for chicks ever since my first hatch didn't go that well made me wonder today if she is worthy of them. I told her that since they all basically hatched on Saturday, they're ready to go, just tell me when you're coming and from what direction and I'll send directions. Her reply? "Do you have a box?" Um, what? She has been supposedly on the edge of her chair all this time and she doesn't even have the get-up-and-go to find a transport box? Grrrrrrr. I'll reserve 6 chicks, in case she doesn't back out and let Rebecca come get her BRs and the other 3 Brahma chicks. People confound me.

I know, right? Says she's coming tomorrow but we'll see. I just don't get people. I'm not a hatchery so I don't keep boxes on hand for the rare times I have chicks to sell. Sigh.

Here are a few pics today. Tom put that ragged towel in there. I told him it was too stringy to be in the brooder and removed it after I took the pics. They like to get on top of it and look over the edge and out the window, LOL.

Thea is ailing. Not sure what the issue is. At first, her crop was sluggish and I worked with her and now, it seems fine, but she is weak and always sleepy, has lost weight. I hope I don't lose her now, at just 4 years old, but this is my first time with this line of BRs so not sure of the longevity. Mary, her sister, died just before a year old or around that time, bloated and no idea what happened to her. So, though Thea is no spring chicken, she also is nowhere near as old as most of my hens. She has wry tail, but has been a good layer and is the most precious, sweetest baby ever. Her poop is watery and greenish and has been for awhile now. Not sure what I can do for her. She had special food for awhile, but really did not want eggs-and-yogurt. I kept the 13 grain scratch away from her for the most part and her crop seemed to recover, but it is probably not the main problem anyway, only the symptom. Why can't it be Jill? Jill is a royal pain, not at all friendly, hates to be picked up, screams like a banshee when I do. Jill is perfectly fine, of course. All the bratty ones are.
