I wasn't able to gather for about 4 days due to weather and not feeling well. Needless to say I had a bumper crop of eggs when I gathered.
I did the float test assuming that I'd know the "goodies" from the "bombs". Turns out they all lay sideways in the water.
They lay in a coop that is covered and they have a fan. (yes, they are ever so slightly spoiled) and they prefer to lay in the dirt/sand.
Are these eggs good or should I toss 'em?

According to Wikipedia, "uncracked eggs can be left unrefrigerated for several months without spoiling." When I read government food safety sites, however, all they say is to refrigerate promptly.

Thanks hon! You know, before refrigeration they use to sit on the counter. :) I'll go ahead and eat 'em. LOL If they were bad I'd think they'd build up gas and float.

If they are store bought eggs (probably what the fda figures most people have) they do need to be refrigerated since the bloom has been removed from the eggs. For fresh eggs though, I know other countries don't wash the eggs and they're sitting out at the store.

I think as long as they don't float they're ok. Laying on their side just means they're not fresh. I would definitely make sure they're cooked thoroughly.
