Height, diameter and placement of roosting pole

Patandchickens, about roost height and ventilation, I'm planning a roost 3' off the floor on a 4' wall, (which is the high side) with ventilation across the top of that wall among the rafters. It sounds like that may be too drafty, yes? I figured I wanted vents at the highest point, but I also wanted the roost on the higher side of the coop... what to do?
(I also have matching vents on the short wall, and again at the floor of the short wall, to adjust the convection. Maybe I'm going about this all wrong.)
