I'm planning to put a dust bath in, possibly under a set of shelves in the run where I'll store feed and whatnot. I was thinking I'd have the first shelf be somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 to 36 inches high, to shield the bath from rain. Is that tall enough for chickens to easily use a dust bath under? I've found lots of information here about size and contents of dustbath, but not how tall a shelter over it needs to be. Thanks!

Found a photo of mine. It's probably around 24" at the low point. Entirely made out of scraps.

Thanks for the photo, that looks great. This was close to my original plan, but then I wanted a place to store some things that wouldn't eat into the run space - hence the shelves.

Based on responses here, I built the shelving with a space for a dustbath underneath that will be protected from rain.I also added some vertical furring strips to keep the chickens from trying ot roost on the storage bins.
