Newbie. My 3 chicks got here 5 hours ago. One is a partridge silkie, one is a red sex linked hen and the biggest one is a black sex linked hen. The silkie and red stay under the brooder plate, come out to eat and go back afterwards but I am noticing that the black one stays on the edge. I Have the brooder plate on the lowest height setting. Should I set it higher for the black one and hope the others are ok or keep it as is? They all seem ok -no loud chirping. Also, I’ve only seen two drink though I’ve dipped each one’s beak in the water dish. Should I be worried?

Thank you.

Glad it worked. I just keep raising the height as they grow, but always keeping the back lower than the front. As someone else mentioned in another thread, be sure they can't get trapped so only one edge is against anything.
