I was recently reading an article about different heirloom breeds. Does anyone have experience raising various heirloom breeds for eggs/meat? If so, what breed and could you post a pic?

I am not sure what the article is called, but Mother Earth News has an article available online that mentions the different heirloom breeds and provides a description of each one. It is a great article! I am sure you can find it if you google Mother Earth News chicken breeds". We have EEs (definitely NOT heirloom) and Plymouth Barred Rocks. The Barred rocks are great birds! The are exceptional layers and very sweet. We are also getting Delawares, Canteclers, Buckeyes, and Javas this spring. Good luck!

Yea! That is the article! Mother Earth News is a great resource for such information! Quite a few people on BYC have the mentioned breeds, plus other wonderful, rare breeds that are great dual purpose chickens. We are particularly excited about the Delawares and Chanteclers because they both lay later into winter as well.

We raise Delaware's. They're a great dual purpose bird that's also beautiful to look at. My hens lay almost every day. Even though it's about 27 at night here right now. They grow pretty quickly and are great foragers. Here's a picture of my roo Mon Capitan and his favorite hen Blanche:
