Hellish Chicken Breeder: Is there anything I can do about it??

I recently went to buy a baby Khaki Cambpell duckling from someone in Savannah GA. I got there and their chickens were in what felt like chicken HELL! There were several very small pens, maybe 4ft by 5ft just PACKED with chickens that didn't even have room to spread their wings, and it only came up to my knees so they could barely stretch their necks up, let alone fly! There were HUNDREDS of other chickens on this property that was only about 1 acre, with many different ducks and rabbits roaming around too. The whole yard was pure mud. There were starved dead chickens laying on the ground being eaten by the others, very many dead newly hatched babies being eaten by flies, the whole place REAKED, and even dead chickens in the road that were hit by cars. I went and got my duck from a horrifically smelly and small brooder with many others in it and went to leave, and I saw one of their pet cats kill a chick and bring away to eat it! The man's response was "that happens sometimes." And not to mention they sold me a khaki cambpell duckling that they lied about the age of for $20. I honestly only bought her to get her out of that place.

Is there anything I can do? Any way to report them for anything? They fed the chickens but only by throwing scratch grains out and not bothering that they fought over it. Im afriad that if I call animal control though that they won't do anything because theyre just chickens and they're technically getting fed.

Are there any laws to protect these chickens? Anything I can do? Anyone I can call?

I'd contact animal control, but I'm sure someone else will come along with better advice.

All I know is that I would do everything in my power to get them better living conditions. Even letting other people know what's going on there to spread some more awareness.

Also see if there's a farm sanctuary anywhere near you, I know they'll often take animals from these kind of situations.

I'm taking one of my ducks to a sanctuary in Jacksonville (1 hour and 30 minutes south of me), but thats really far from Savannah, which is almost 2 hours North of me. Plus it was HUNDREDS of chickens and ducks, I don't know how they'd be able to rehome all of them. The animal control around here is also notoriously bad at everything they do. Hopefully this post spreads awareness though, I really want them saved from that horrible place! Does anyone know any sanctuaries in Savannah or the surrounding area? Know any better groups or people to call than the animal control? Spread the word to help these guys?? I'll try talking to the sanctuary in Jacksonville because its the only one I've found, but theyre so far from the place and I dont think they'd be able to house them all. I'll also try calling the animal control center there but I won't even be able to know if they did anything about the problem!

a sanctuary can’t just take this person’s property from them and it is highly unlikely they would volunteer them over.

I forgot to include that they had multiple great Pyrenees dogs sitting in the rain and mud with NO SHELTER OR FOOD, in the middle of the rain, with a chain (NO COLLAR) attached to a weight bar to keep them in place. They were muddy and matted.

I just sent in a complaint to that counties animal control but they won't be able to get back until Monday, and ill call them then to make sure too.

Call the sheriff or animal control.
