I have helped friends with their chickens and was rewarded with beautiful eggs with golden yolks. It might be late in the spring to start with chicks but would still like to try, any suggestions on the easiest chicks to get? Thank you!!! Marcy

Red stars are very common and good as layers, I would think the feed shops often have them. If you go to "where am I, where are you," forum you can post on your state thread and maybe find someone in your area raising them. If you could buy older chickens POL - point of lay, you will have eggs fairly soon.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

I tend to favor heritage breeds - Speckled Sussex and Delawares are some of the nicest birds I have had for temperament
