I’m in Big Bear Lake, CA and have 5 free ranging hens that are almost a year old. Black Jersey Giant, Buff Cochin, Dark Brahma, Sliver Laced Wyandotte and Rhode Island Red.
My German Shepherd and Terrier Mix keep a close eye on them and I haven’t had any issues with predators!
I get 5 eggs a day and they are happy and healthy with over 10k sq ft to roam!
I’ve recently bought 5 (but received 8!) Japanese Bantam day old chicks that are now 7 weeks living in my living room in a large Tarter waterer.
They are absolutely the cutest!
I also raise Lady Gouldians.
Living in the mountains is the best!
