As you all know, I am new "again" to the country and to chicken raising. I lived on a farm and raised many different animals when i was a young boy but have forgotten most of it. I have a few chickens that were gave to me and I purchased some chicks from a farm store. My wife and I do not know how to care for them real well but they are doing pretty well. When do you take the chicks from our warm basement to their coop with the other chickens. They will not be in the same cage area with the adult chickens as our coop as 3 huge sections. Any suggestions???Thank you.

! Pleased you joined us! I think you birds can be moved outdoors to the coop when they are fully feathered - 4 -6 weeks. Some of that may depend on weather where you live of course. Good luck to you!

Yes, wait till they are fully feathered - try them outside for a short while and see how they do. If they seem cold have a sheltered area with a heat lamp so they can warm up if need be.I don't know if you area is as unseasonably cold & raw as it is here. But we haven't had any glimpse of spring.
