I've been away for far too long! My hens are doing great - I still have one of my original four, 9 years into my chicken adventure! Her name is Pickles, she's an EE and she is still queen of the flock. Her minions are two other EE's named Olivia and Ophelia, a GLW named Pumpkin, and a bantam Fleur d'Uccle named Dot. Pumpkin is the laying queen (being the youngest of the batch), Dot is the runner-up great layer when she's not broody, and Pickles holds her own in spite of her . . . maturity.
Hubs and I will be relocating from sunny SoCal to magical New Mexico in the next couple of years, so I'm starting to research what I'll need to know to make the transition from our urban homestead to a rural, high-desert ranchito. All suggestions are welcome!
