On Sunday my husband brought home eight 2 yr old chickens (Star's I believe from the chicken breed info I read on this forum) so am brand new to the 'chicken life'. Thanks to this forum for a lot of really great info already! Thanks to reading many of the great posts, I was able to find answers to a lot of my beginner questions to help get the first few days off to a good start. We've been talking about getting a few chickens for quite awhile so this year was it. They were supposed to be 'off the lay' and moulting and the fellow we bought them from was selling them off to get a new brood of chicks I gather. Well so far I haven't seem much sign of moulting and, in four days, have collected 21 eggs! If this is 'off' the lay, I'd hate to see what they will do when they are in full production again. I just love the girls!! They are SO friendly and laid back and a real joy. Looking forward to learning lots from everyone and sharing stories along the way.

Welcome.
I enjoy watching my chickens too! Especially when they tilt their head to one side to get a beter look at something!
Enjoy your eggs and coming up with new ways to use them!

Hi there FisherPal, pleased to meet you and the flock! I'm glad you found way into the world of chickens, it's a great world to be in. Have a look around the forum, plenty to learn here.

Red stars are fabulous layers, have a docile temprament, and do well in confinement. You're going to love them!
