Hello All,
Nifty-Chicken nudged me, too. (Thanks, Nifty-Chicken!)
I've been keeping chickens, on and off for 20 years, ever since my oldest brought home the chicks that her kindergarten class had hatched. I currently have 30 hens and 1 rooster; mostly Rhode Island Reds, a few Barred Rocks, Silver Spangled Hamburgs and Americanas.
My youngest son, now 11, and I have hatched lots of eggs over the past few years. We've also butched our own birds. I've raised meat birds the last 3 years. I started out raising Cornish Cross (they're bizarre!) and tried Color Rangers last year (they're slower to grow, but look like birds are suppossed to look).
I'm planning to order a batch of Color Rangers soon, and probably some Cuckoo Marans and Americanas to replace the older hens in our flock. I might try ordering extra and selling some locally, as pullets. Anyone have yay or nay ideas about this?
I look forward to getting to know y'all.
Jennifer
