I'm new to keeping chickens and decided to keep them because I've always wanted to, but never had the time to. Now that I'm retired and my children are older, my dream of having chickens is realized :) I also have three dogs (Selma, Coco and Diesel), one cat named Mike and I have two aquariums. I also enjoy taking care of the flowers in my yard and flower beds. I have so many questions about keeping chickens and maintaining a healthy flock. I have two mature hens that my neighbor gave me and I have five young hens (pullets?) that are about six months old. I have a buff orpington, two australorps, one rhode island red, one hybrid, and two leghorns. I've been getting 1-2 eggs every other day or so, which I'm so happy about. I think my buff and one of the leghorns are my layers so far. I'll try to post some pictures of my girls soon :)
