(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Took care of my grandfather's flock when I was a kid so I'm not entirely new to them. There is plenty that I don't know.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 12
(3) What breeds do you have? Buff orp, buckeye, red partridge rock, white leghorn, black leghorn
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? My daughter's cat is terrified of them, butt nuggets, & they make the hubby sit still and relax. (He works too hard)
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Really big into keeping fish. 32 yrs into it. We have a fish ROOM not just A tank lol. We also love DIY and home improvement projects. I get the most awesomest ideas and then hubby makes them real (and often more awesome) lol
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. 2 daughters, 2 boston terriers, 1 beagle, 1 mutant alien turd (aka a cat), 1 mouse, 1 hamster we found in the garage after a storm, 2 axolotl, over 100? fish of many species... "And a partridge in a pear treeeeee!" Hubby wants a goat but thank goodness we aren't zoned for that! Lol My real occupation creeps most people out so let's just call me a zoo keeper for now!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Downloaded the ap when I was looking for "chicken games" for my daughter. I know forums can be a great wealth of information and community connection ...or a cess pool of drama. I'm looking forward to the info and meeting new peeps part!
