Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Sorry to hear you have lost three of your flock :hugs Losing flock members is very sad. If you are losing them to predators could you beef up security for them? Your farm sounds great with 15 acres. There is a great section of the forum for sewing canning cooking etc here is the link I'm sure you will find it very interesting https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/16175/miscellaneous

Wishing you the very best of luck and I hope you enjoy BYC, I am sure you will everyone here to help and very friendly :frow

Sorry to hear of your losses, it's hard to lose them for any reason. Any plans to enlarge your flock now that you are down to three?

The flock is pretty good about going back to the coop when it starts to get dark, they tend to roam all over the property and they fly over the fence we have put up, lol. The coyotes are pretty brazen, they will come right up to the fence. Thankfully, they haven't been back that close lately. The one that died yesterday, I think got egg bound and I didn't know it. Now, I know what to look for I can hopefully prevent it in the future.

Hi, I am new to backyard chickens too! Its an awesome place to talk, learn and make new friends! I love it because everybody was nice and helped me learn things about chickens!! I hope you like it as much as I do!
