Hello all, my name is Bekah. I am excited to be a part of this group. I have read a lot of the forums in the past and have learned a lot from all of you. I am looking forward to learning more

Yesterday, someone gave me a Silkie. I absolutely love the breed and think they are beautiful but I have never owned one myself...until now. I have read a lot about sexing them and how difficult it is to do so. I was wondering if anyone can help me with this or have any opinion on what it may be.

How old is your silkie?

At 3 months it is hard to sex silkies. Look at the comb. If very small I'd guess pullet.

Include age, a good side shot and a good shot of the comb. As was previously mentioned, sexing silkies is difficult so you may have to try back in another month or so.

Thank you for posting the links for me! Still haven't figured out this whole forum thing yet. I will post pictures there and hopefully someone can figure it out. I have always heard that you never really can be sure until it starts crowing or lays an egg. Lol. I am dieing to know!

Could you have someone hold back the crest feathers, so you get a good photo of the comb? That may help, otherwise post photos again at 4-5 mos. of age. You might also want to post photos at the "Silkie thread."
