Hi everyone, new member to the site. We just started raising chickens last year. I was terrified of them before that, but now I Love them. We live in WV.

Thank you! My Aunt used to have gunies and they would chase me. I was scared if any bird after that :-) Currently we have a RIR, sussex and a bantom rooster(not sure his breed) shd an assortment of peeps. My Plymouth hen, just got ran over a few days ago. She was our baby. She would come in the house and hang out, get in our cars shd even on our daughters school bus. It was a sad loss for us.

Ill be getting a guinea later this spring, I have 3 RIR hens an ameraucana hen an ameraucana roo 1 silver laced wyandotte chick 1 leghorn chick, and some bantam, i think porcelain d'uccle, and I have a bid for my neighbors pair of serama. It suck to lose one I lost 1 ameraucana and 1 RIR when they were about 12 weeks because of some dogs.

I still don't care for them, will probably haunt me for life lol. Oh I hope you get them!!! Yes, we had an issue with dos too. We only close ours up at night, and, let them range thru the day. I'm sorry for your loss.

My mom used to take care of an elderly lady and her hairdresser had chickens so every time I would go I would collect eggs for her(she also gave me 7 eggs and an incubator when I was 7 and I hatched out 6 chicks), she is going to give me a guinea chick later this spring I am so excited, I haven't had any before, but I know they can be loud. My chickens get to free range too, and it is ok that happened last summer.
