I have had R.I.R hens for years. For the eggs. A couple of years ago, 2013, we added Mallards into the mix. My loves. Let them breed and hatch out their own the first year(Spring 2014). Then last year (2015) I bought a couple of incubators to hatch out more than the previous year. Last year, my 4 yr old son wanted his own chickens, so we got 2 Barred Plymoth Rock chics. Turned out to be 1 hen and 1 rooster. Well the rooster has since breeded with all of the hens and now we have another brooder to build. I have more eggs for the incubators this year. Not just the mallards but now chickens too. Love all the babies. I love my mallards and they are what got me into breeding. Didnt expect to love those baby chickens just as much. Too cute!!!!
