Hello, my name is GwynD'Lynn, and I am the owner of Gwynnie's Hennies. I haven't made any business official yet, as I am just starting out. I began with two Rhode Island Reds, Mama and Beau, and recently (4/13/2019) bought 13 new chicks. I joined BYC to ask questions, learn all I can from others who are more established in the chicken world, and share what information I do have with those who don't.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my first chicken in 2015, a RIR hen I named Mama.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently own 14 birds
(3) What breeds do you have?
9 RIRs (7 chicks, 1 hen, 1 stag), 2 "Lavender" Orpington chicks, 2 "Candy Corn" Polish chicks, and 2 "Jubilee" Orpington chicks, and what I believe is a Brabanter cross stag, named Chikko Loco.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love watching them explore their surroundings, seeing ho they react to each other, and watching chicks grow into full grown stags and hens.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I used to ride horses an awful lot, that's my favorite thing to do. I also garden, raise trees, and am currently enrolled in a Veterinary Assistant Certification program.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am married, and my husband and I have four tiny angels in heaven waiting for us. I am mama to a very spoiled 1 year old Maine Coon cross named Baby, a BIG baby named Boo who is a 8 year old Great Dane/American Pit Bull Terrier, a female marble Elephant Ear Halfmoon Plakat beta named Stelle, a rabbit named Rabbit (for lack of creativity, and a somewhat lack of attachment) which is a meat rabbit I bought from my Ag Science teacher back in high school,
