In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We had chickens when I was growing up but decided to do corporate life and move as far away from a "farm" as I could. Now many years later, I have returned to my roots. Chickens will be the second type of animal we have (we have bees already)
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
6 with lots more on the way.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Silkies and Polish currently but several other breeds joining within the month.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Helping my gardens, watching them play, and providing food
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Soap making, gardening, quilting, food preservation, cooking
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I along with our youngest son have started on this adventure. We are joined by 1 chocolate lab (Ava), Two Sister Catahoula / Rhodesian Ridgeback mix (Maize and Zoey), About 60,000 bees (affectionately called the girls) We raised all boys so it appears that I favor the ladies...
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I have lurked for almost 6 months....Decided to officially join when I got chickens.
