We got our first chickens this spring for Easter for the kids and now I'm more excited than they are

We have 4 Golden Comets and hope to get more later! We are a family of four Mom Dad 9 year old and 2 year old, with a Shi-tzu and an English Mastiff! WE LOVE ANIMALS and hope to have a farm one day! If you have any advice its always welcome! I do have a question to start off with, What do you feed your chickens. We get a bag of food from the feed store we bought the chicks from but they eat it quickly and we would like to offer them more variety! Thanks!

Welcome! Just keep giving them Starter feed and they'll be fine!

they're getting close to 6 or 7 weeks, they're almost fully feathered, is it really ok for them to still be on the starter feed still? thank you!

Yes, unless you can find Grower feed.

from Ohio. If you do find the grower feed, they will be on that until close to laying age. Then you will switch to a laying feed. Good luck.

Add some grit and and some grass picked by hand. They'll love it!

I feed my chicks just chick - starter, but yesterday I scrambled them some eggs and put salt on them and they went nutty for them!!! Plus scrambled eggs are VERY good for them.
