Just putting finishing touches on my first tractor. I did a good job on the wood structure but the fence looks terrible. Functional though. I had chicks as a kid and 20 something years latter I get to have them again. I live in the city and have a little garden as well. Looking forward to this experience with my kids. Any tips on how to make the fence tight to the tractor?

the only thing I know about building is to use 1/2" hardware cloth and not flimsy chicken wire. Your chickens will thank you for it every time it keeps a raccoon from reaching in and biting off body parts.

Welcome to BYC - as drumstickdiva said, "Hardware cloth, not chicken wire." A coon can reach through the chicken wire and dismantle a chicken piece by piece.

My flock will consist of two chickens! Tractor is 4x8. I have big dogs that would eat a racoon. Can you eat laying hens in the falls. Not sure if I will be able to winter them?

We just got our two girls on Saturday. They love their new life. They lived on a farm and now get a nice backyard. They really love my garden. Gotta keep an eye on them. Tons of fun and a little stink.
