Make sure their toes are straight and not curled. If they are young they will sleep a ton and they are not dead when they sleep, but it might look like it
 
  Just use good judgement when you pick them out. If they are older the roos will have combs and hens grow tailfeathers way faster. My rir hen is like a week old and already has tailfeathers. Have fun and take pics each week because they double in size each week
