Hi I am Brian and I have just joined BackYardChickens.com. I have looked at several threads in your forum section before joining and can say that I was pleased with what I read. I have been raising backyard chickens for almost 3 years now. We started with 2 Rhode Island Reds and 1 Black Australorp (all for egg production only). Last year my BA became broody so a friend of mine gave me some eggs for her to set, she ended up hatching 2 of them which I gave to my mom to start her flock but both turned out to be roosters which she didn't want so after they got big enough I killed and butchered them for her. About 3 weeks ago I decided we need to start to replace and expand our flock so I bought 5 RIR and 5 Barred Rock chicks and built a larger coop and run for the new flock and left my original hens in the coop I originally built and mom bought 5 RiR for her flock. Hopefully I will be posting some pics and discussing our progress with all of you and I am looking forward to your comments and suggestions.
Thank you,
Brian
