My husband and I live on a little hobby farm in Ontario and we are new to chickens. He was raised on a dairy farm and I was raised on a hobby farm. We are very interested in homesteading. A wonderful heritage chicken breeder at Lavender Skeffling Farm sold us the 20 lovely fertilized eggs that are downstairs in the incubator as I type this. We peek through the window and keep a careful eye on temperature and humidity. Just 11 days to go and we will be chicken farmers! Visiting Lavender Skeffling was very fun and educational. Claire taught us a lot about the breeds of chickens she raises. I keep telling the eggs to all be hens! I may not spell these right but here it goes;
There are 14 Partridge Chantecleurs,
2 Lavender D'Uccle
1 EO Basque
1 Wheaten Americana
2 Lavender Americana
1 Black Pendesca
1 wheaten/partridge chantecleur mix

I have been studying up on chickens like crazy. I would REALY, REALLY, REALLY like to purchase some purebred double blue laced barnevelders. If you know of any in Canada or someone who ships to Canada please let me know.
