This is my first time raising chicks from eggs. Last year I fell in love with chickens and got my stepdad to get one. He wanted fluffy chickens that he had heard of, and needless to say we ended up with a bunch of silkies.
Over the course of the year, we got more chickens (some that resembled ameraucanas though most likely a cross breed, and some chickens that look like Dutch bantams), and of course ran into instances that resulted in a major loss of chicks.
I had fostered a chick that wasn't growing along with the others and that's when I truly fell in love with chickens.
This year when our chickens and ducks began to lay eggs, my stepdad let me take over.
As of now (and not including the adult chickens), I have 4 silkie chicks, 2 of the bantam chicks, and 1 silkie/ameraucana-look-alike mix.
