Good to find a good place to learn. Interested in starting a free range flock of Seramas, but I'm trying to figure out a good bodyguard companion bird that will (help) deter the occasional hawk or eagle. They don't seem  that expensive to start, though the shallow birthrate is distressing. I'm hoping adequate cover, a bodyguard companion breed, and of course a good warm shelter and good feed will be adequate. I'm in colder climates (MN) but I should be able to put some into a heated area for winter.

There are very good large dogs that are good bodyguards in cold climates. I don't remember the name of the breed but they are snow white. I saw one being used in Vermont. I'd want to through in a big gander too.
