Hello BackYardChickens!

I'm already thinking about incubators and building pens so I believe Indiana hens' prediction has already begun...

The wood ducks have a 4' wide X 4' deep x 5' high mini aviary. I have them a corner box at about 4'. So far, they flutter around but haven't "found" it yet. I've read that sometimes you have to build a ramp to show them the way. Mine are marked by toe clips so they shouldn't have any problems flying. Which makes me very nervous about opening the door for food. I can always fill their "mini pond" with the water hose.

Here's a picture of them before they moved to the big house in the sky:

I got my chickens through Cackle Hatchery. It was the "Hatchery Surprise." I got 38 chickens, 3 ducks & 1 turkey. The turkey is already gone. She will be Christmas dinner. My sensitive daughter is trying to use that for leverage to get a pair of turkeys that she can keep. My girls showed the ducks at our county fair and they got 1st and 2nd. (I have 2 Rouen hens and 1 Crested drake.) That's what the wood ducks are for. I'm hoping next year will bring even more excitement for the girls. And of course, since I now have them divided up the chickens whose tail feathers were removed by the turkey will be ready to be shown.

Thanks for all the support. Finally, I'm not getting an appalled reaction about the amount of chickens I have.

I'm going outside to take pictures of the "Unidentified Birds" aka my UBs or should it be UCs.

Thank you all very much!

Okay, I posted pictures of the UCs in the "What Breed or Gender is This?" section under "*** Chicken Quiz ***". I look forward to everyone sharing your chicken experience with me.
