Guinea Hens make me smile

Well it's been over 1 1/2 years since I've posted! Can't believe it! Thank you everyone for your greetings when I first joined BYC.
Neighbor and I started with 13 tiny keets and we still have 9. One died from a hawk strike I believe, one disappeared because she was setting on a nest somewhere unknown to me and one was killed by a dog who seemed to be passing by. Traumatic.
The others are doing great and have survived visiting skunks who got into their pen but seemed to be there only for the food. Guineas are quite big birds and are agressive. I have seen them go after a coyote as a group. Boy was he confused!
Recently I was filling their feeder while they were still in the coop and one began chasing another, excited that I was in there with the door closed. The one flew up to get away, hit me in the side of the head and I got clawed a hair's width below the tear duct on my eye. A cut about 3/4 in. long and a black eye for Christmas! Boy, the stories that generated.

However none of my friends were too surprised.

What does that say about my wild and wooley life? My husband was concerned and made sure I kept up with the Neosporin but ultimately his advice was to wear safety glasses! I don't think he was too surprised either.
All's well, cut's healed, Guineas are happy. Eventhough one now has the nickname "Barbeque", I love them just the same.
