Hi. Glad to join up - I've been a closet "guest" for a couple of years. Last spring I finally broke down and bought 3 baby pullets. Two Australorps and a Barred Rock - became wonderful backyard pets and good egg layers.

Despite my efforts my two favorite hens have succumbed to hawk and fox, and I'm down to one lonely city cluck. She has been invited to move to the country with a new flock. I start over next month, having learned a bit more about leaving city clucks outside unattended.

Anyway, looking forward to building a new coop and getting more peeps!

I'm glad you're not giving up with chickens. A lot of raising them is trial and error; I'm sure you've learned a lot so far -- and I know you'll learn so much more as a member here!

It's great to have you here! [IMG]

When I think of Tulsa, I don't think of a hawk or fox in a backyard. Are you in a typical suburb?
My sister lived in Tulsa before moving to Bixby.

Quote:I actually live very near downtown Tulsa - on a hill above the bend of the Arkansas river. I'm lucky enough to have a very, very old house on about 3 acres in a hidden little neighborhood. The 2 acres behind my place was totally overgrown with poison ivy (ugh). I now have it cleared, but the foxes and hawks are still around.

    Bixby is a great place!
