Hello, BYC! I am a newbie but am ready for some chickens and eggs!

Hi!

I am Colin, and live in Knoxville, TN. My roommate and I plan to raise chickens and receive farm-fresh eggs this spring/summer, we just need to build a coop first. My goal is to acquire land eventually and raise pastured chickens on a farm.

I just wanted to introduce myself and say that any advice is welcomed and helps!

Glad to have you join! Feel free to make yourself at home! What breeds do you plan on getting?
 
Thank you!!! I think we want to get the whole experience and raise chicks. I think it would be fun to mix breeds to really get the full experience. Any advise for a beginner/wanting fresh eggs?
 
I have not been to the Learning Center but will get on that immediately! Thanks for all the chicken warmth, guys!

Murray McMurray has an excellent "chick selector" tool at https://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/chick_selector.html to help you determine which breeds are best for you.
