I've been reading and learning on this site for over a year; I started raising yardbirds over 2 years ago. I've expanded a little and run into some snags and learned a lot. Thanks to everyone who has shared their experience and wisdom, and hopefully I can do the same (but will probably ask more questions than answer them.) My approach is probably different than that of most people and is developing as it goes.
I started by buying 4 chicks from a feed/seed plus hatched about a dozen of a friend's mixed Ameraucana/Marans/Orpington/Bresse/??? eggs and have recently started separating to keep some separate for breeding purposes. It's been an interesting journey.
