Involving family in your passion is a great way to encourage future keepers. My teenage son is obsessed with our quail covey. He is heavily involved in their care and upbringing. I'm so proud to see him caring for something other than himself. Every morning he comes down, chats to the birds, strokes his faves, tops up their feed and water. He does this several times a day. The younger children also help top up food and dust baths. I thought I'd be left to do everything for the quail but in actual fact I'm a bit player compared to the attention my children give the birds.
