Hello can anybody help me ? I found a cold temperature duck just floating in the lake. The duck does not move alot his head just moves forward and side to side and has mucus coming out of his bill. I cannot take him to a Bird sanctuary because they will put him down. Anybody has any knowledge about this and will like to share.

Welcome to BYC. Do you have other ducks or chickens? I ask because this duck could have something contagious. Where do you live?

Will the duck stand an walk? I don’t think it’s a wild duck maybe a Muscovy mix? Do you have feed for it? Can you take the duck to the vet should be quite a few avian vets in your area. If it has something respiratory going on most it will need a antibiotic

Today, the duck seems to have more energy. The duck was moving his wings and was drinking water. I bought some multi vitamins to give later on today. We called some
Vets and they said they don’t take ducks.

Go to TSC and by a bag of Purina duck pellets are you going to keep this duck? I know there is a Muscovy sanctuary around your area.

Hi, thanks for taking in the little one. If you've got Tractor supply there they hopefully will have Purina duck pellets. They are for all duck and all ages. If it's is a girl all you will need to add for her is oyster shells once she starts laying.

See if you can get that and along with it get some B-complex and give her 1ml over some mealworms, watermelon, tomatoes or whatever she will eat right up.
