The Zen Hen
In the Brooder
(1) I am new to keeping chickens. My mom and I first got chickens spring of 2020 so it’s been a year now.
(2) We have 4 hens and just got 7 baby chicks for spring. we’ve had other chickens in the past year but some unfortunately just either didn’t make it or they were roosters and we rehoused (idk if that’s the right word
) them.
(3) We have 2 Rhode Island Red hens, 1 Light Brahma hen, 1 Easter Egger hen, 1 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte chick, 3 Lavender Ameraucana chicks, 1 Black Copper Maran chick, and 2 F2 Oliver Egger chicks.
(4) My favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens is getting to have all the different types of chickens and different colored eggs. It’s also just a good way for me to bond with my mom!
(5) I don’t have many other hobbies. I like to play video games and paint! I’ve also started to collect vinyl records. My mom also likes to garden we are growing lots of fruits, veggies, herbs, and flowers for spring!
(6) I’m a (male) junior in high school and made this account so I can help my mom figure out certain things since we’re new to the hobby. I also have a gray tabby cat and my mom has a yorkie.
(7) Bonus: I found BYC by searching up “chicken forum” into google! I made the account mostly just to ask questions that me and my mom might need help with!
