Thank you for the warm welcome and your responses. After searching BYC this week for what my black EE might be, I read lots of feedback here to others with questions about sexing visually. You all made me aware that it's highly likely Buffy is a roo. I will love him anyway. I have raised LOUD hookbills throughout my life, but it's been 8 yrs with no birds. I have nice neighbors I don't want to disturb. I have field on the other side with coyotes and lots of hawks. Thinking I should put the coop near the house. I am a light sleeper. @janiedoe A white noisemaker is a great idea! Plan to put a solar motion detector alarm with a flashing light on the coop. Lots of hardware cloth under and around.
