Yesterday I bought 9 more chicks from the local feed store, and they are supposed to be:
3 unknown breed straight run Bantams
2 white Leghorns (female)
4 Araucanas (female)

However, 2 of the 'Araucanas' clearly have tails, so I think something is amiss here, after all my research......no problem, they are cute anyway.

your "araucanas" are very likely what are called Easter Eggers (EE's) - mutt blue egg layers.

I went through the same thing. I thought I got an Ameracauna from our local feed store, which got them from one of the big hatcheries. This, I have now learned, is the problem: The hatcheries, despite what they may claim, don't really breed Aracaunas or Ameracaunas--they're all mutts, a.k.a. Easter Eggers. I also learned that they aren't all blue egg-layers. (I wish I could find the thread where I read a technical-but-simple explanation of the genetics of these "3 breeds" and their egg colors). Mine lays a light brown egg, with some darker speckles.

Oh, that would be great, I wanted EE's anyway!!! I don't really care because they are all toooooo cute!

I want to post a couple pics of my unidentified bantam chicks, as I don't have a clue what they are, but my camera is not working. They are marked basically alike, one being a lighter overall color, and only one has feathered legs. I will post in the proper forum area as soon as I get pics!

Well, that works out nicely for you. They are cute, aren't they? (If, later, you did want purebreds, there are people here who sell them.)
I think the forums don't let you post pictures before a certain number of posts (I forget if it's 10 or 20,) so you might have time to fix or replace your camera. Meanwhile, maybe you could look at pictures

of other member's chickens, (try the breeds section) to get an idea of what your banties might be. (Just a thought)

Thanks for the help!! i have looked at sssoooooo many pics of chicks that i have a headache!!
Through the forum I have pretty much concluded that one of the bantams is a
Golden Sebright....aaaawwwww.... Hubby wanted one

One apparently is a Mille Fleur D"Uccle....wanted one

although, it is awfully light colored, maybe will end up being a 'porcelain'?no matter either way, this is my favorite of this group

and (duh) the other bantam baby is a Silkie....want bunches of those

If i remembered to look at skin color, I wouldn't have asked about this little cutie...LOL

So I tremendously appreciate the help I have received here!! I guess my decision to pick the chicks that I thought were the cutest was a good one. I ended up with breeds that were on my wish list!!
Who could ask for a better turn out!?!
