Hello! I've been keeping chickens in my back yard for 6 years now. I have 7 chickens: 1 Gold Laced Wyandotte, 2 Barred Rocks, 1 Black Star, 1 Production Red, and 2 that look like Golden Comets or some kind of red sex link (no roosters - city ordinance). I've been a member for several years, yet failed to introduce myself before now, it seems. I've come here whenever I have questions and usually find answers from others who have posted the same questions that I have.
Just brought in 3 young hens, who are very friendly and sweet. They are quarantined in their new pen away from our existing 4, and are being treated for worms. They are otherwise healthy & beautiful.
I love raising chickens for their quirky personalities, their cuteness, and, of course, the EGGS, so much better than any store bought.
I have a husband, 3 grown children & 2 grandkids who appreciate the fresh eggs =). And we have a cat. I have degrees in music & psychology, I've worked at the library, and as a student group tutoring mentor for middle & high school students. Besides raising chickens, I sing & play recorder, keep a garden - can, & preserve - and I enjoy knitting & crochet.
