I've been scratching around here for about a year. I finally took the leap into chicken motherhood about a month ago. I have 2 white leghorns and 3 rhode island reds in my house and a coop which is about 75% finished in my yard. One of my girls just turned into a boy this week. :( I can't keep him and I haven't figured out what to do just yet. We're sort of waiting to see if any of the other girls catch it before we take him to a farm. Looking forward to pouring through every nook and cranny in this site.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre (even if you have lots of experience)
https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center, and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread

All the best

Males are like that - they masquerade as females hoping you will get attached and not give them up when they "come out" as boys. Too many towns, etc. won't allow them, so many are looking for homes.
