Hello chicken people! Hmmm that does not sound right!? Anyway new member here just introducing mysel

Thank you for the warm welcome all. I very much appreciate it.

Thank you K9Dave. I have been reading in the forums and have learned some stuff already. It is so nice to meet so many nice people. I have missed having a forum Of people interested in some of the same things I am. I do like my chickens. Lol. My family thinks I am weird.

I've only been doing it for about a month now and my wife thinks I'm weird lol. Are you gonna post pics of your birds?

Glad you joined us! I hope poor Gumshoe's foot heals up quickly. You've certainly come to the right place for advice on treatments :)

Thank you Sumi, for the nice welcome. I hope I get some advice. I am certainly lacking any knowledge in treating wounded birds. Mostly what we have done is leave them alone and either they die or they don't. But, I really like Gumshoe. He is easy going and has a nice crow. He talks to me and pays attention when I talk to him.

K9Dave I suspect it is weird to really like chickens but I cannot help it. When we first moved here my neighbor had chickens and would tell me how much she really enjoyed them. I thought she was weird, lol. Now I am buying birds with her! We just split a shipment from McMurray Hatchery. I have a pic of the chicks but it is not very good. Gumshoe is my avatar and I will go take pics of my current birds including Norman Bates today. He is not what I would call a good looking bird. I had a black rooster that I thought was beautiful. He was an Black Australorp and was just stunning. Big and shiny black with green highlights. I lost two years ago. He came from the only egg we have managed to get hatched and have the chick survive.

Gayleyy that is exactly what I needed! Thank you ever so much! I don't know if I have the guts to cut into Gumshoe by myself but I have a neighbor who might be willing to help me. I have been soaking his feet with Epsom salts. He seems to like that and I have thought about Neosporin as that is what I use for injury for myself and cats and dog. I am going to try to make him better. Wish me luck. And thank you all again for such warm support.
Bette
