How much space did they have inside the shelter ? Pekins are a large breed and need more square footage than the standard 4 square feet per bird.
I wouldn’t let them sleep in the yard without a shelter - predators love ducks.
Their shelter needs plenty of ventilation , high up on the walls and covered with 19 gauge 1/2 inch spaced hardware cloth, a minimum of one square foot ventilation per duck.
Take care of the bloody neck / you can spray with vetericyn or a solution of 10% povidine iodine 1 part mixed into 4 parts waterand then apply some antibiotic ointment that does not contain pain relief.

One quacks one merps. Pretty sure Desi is a male. He had a curl when he was younger. He is aggressive toward me and he just survived a fox attack and was able to chase the fox away. He had some wing damage but I don't think any bite wounds. He is the one that mounts constantly but when I locked them up at night he would emerge with the bloody neck. Their coup was just shy of 15 sf and is now the main chicken house. They wouldn't go in unless forced and he would emerge bloody so I quit making them go in. He dominates a huge Racoon, survived the Bear 2x and now a BIG Fox attack. I have a 10' fence but leave the gate open in the daytime and have been gone for work during the Bear, the neigbor saved 5 of 8 chickens, the Fox got in through a hole in a temporary fence it knocked down a wood fence section I rigged up, luckily the ducks fought and escaped through the hole to the river. The 10' fence is fixed, I and my neighbor are home and hunting the fox if he comes back. Anyway, Lucy nests, but I've never seen an egg. She hogs the water holes and won't let Desi come in. She gets mounted then angry and chases Desi around. She bloodies him but he is the one who fights and deals with threats. I don't know. Where are the eggs? They are like 18 months old....
